Coronavirus: Lithuania confirms 5 new cases, 1 death 2020.05.06 11:12

Lithuania has confirmed five new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday morning. One more coronavirus patient passed away on Wednesday.

The person was treated in Kaunas Clinical Hospital and “belonged to a risk group due to their age and other illnesses”, said Rolanda Lingienė of the National Public Health Centre.

On Tuesday, 7,387 people were tested for the virus. To date, 1,428 people have been diagnosed with the coronavirus in the country.

Of them, 718 people have been confirmed to have recovered and 49 have passed away. However, three of the 49 deaths were due to reasons other than the coronavirus, the Ministry of Health said.

Two people with Covid-19 passed away on Tuesday.

Over 90 patients hospitalised

A total of 92 coronavirus-infected patients are currently being treated in hospitals in Lithuania.

“Fourteen of them are in intensive care, nine on ventilators and 24 with oxygen masks,” Rolanda Lingienė of the National Public Health Centre told a press conference on Wednesday.

A total of 374 people, including 280 health-care professionals, are in isolation, she added.
