Police carried out searches Thursday at the home and office of Adomas Bužinskas, director of the Vilnius city municipality administration, as part of a pre-trial investigation into the application of the capital’s street design standard.

Bužinskas said the investigation is related to the continued use of the Vilnius street standard, although he insisted he had never received a summons for questioning.

“Today, police officers searched my home and office. According to preliminary information, it is because I did not show up for a police interview regarding the continued use of the street standard. However, the most interesting part is that I never received a summons,” Bužinskas said in a post on social media.

According to the administration director, the investigation concerns a street standard approved by the municipality five years ago, which he signed while serving as deputy director of the administration.

In 2024, Lithuania’s Supreme Administrative Court ruled that the standard was not legally in force because it had not been published in the Register of Legal Acts.

Bužinskas said municipal employees were instructed to stop applying the standard after the court ruling.

He also said officers seized a tablet belonging to his grandmother during the search of his home. Bužinskas said he was on holiday at the time of the raid.

The investigation is being conducted by the Economic Crimes Investigation Board of the Vilnius County Police.

Authorities said the pre-trial investigation is focused on possible abuse of office and failure to perform official duties.
