Lithuanian citizens will be able to travel to South Africa without a visa for up to 90 days, the Lithuanian Embassy in South Africa announced on Wednesday.
According to the embassy, Lithuanian travellers will no longer need to physically send documents to the South African Embassy in Stockholm or complete an online visa application through the electronic visa system.
“This long-awaited diplomatic achievement is the result of both countries’ consistent efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, promote tourism, cultural exchange and business cooperation. It is a historic moment for relations between Lithuania and South Africa,” Lithuanian Ambassador to South Africa Rasa Jankauskaitė said in a statement.
“The visa-free regime will open new opportunities for our citizens to discover South Africa’s culture, stunning nature and build business connections. We hope this step will help increase travel flows and foster even closer economic ties,” she added.
The embassy said the decision reaffirms both countries’ mutual commitment to strengthening their partnership, promoting people-to-people contacts and expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields.
