Lithuania has completed a new €1.08m anti-tank weapons range at the Rūdninkai military training ground, the defence ministry said on Friday.
The facility includes two firing positions, an observation tower and a protective embankment, as well as supporting infrastructure such as an access road, shelters for platoon units, ammunition distribution areas and parking facilities.
Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said the range formed part of a wider effort to rapidly expand Lithuania’s military infrastructure.
“We are completing another important stage at the Rūdninkai training ground, creating conditions for Lithuanian soldiers, the German brigade and our allies to train at the anti-tank range,” he said. “This is part of a broader direction: we continue to strengthen military infrastructure at a very rapid pace.”
The ministry said the complex was designed for use by the Lithuanian armed forces and the German brigade, with the aim of improving collective defence readiness and operational capability.
The Rūdninkai military campus in the Šalčininkai district is being developed to host a German brigade of around 5,000 troops by 2027.
The first phase of construction, worth €125m, is being implemented by Eika Construction. A second phase, delivered through a public-private partnership, is valued at around €1.3bn.
The partnership project is being carried out by Rudina, a company managed by Fegda and Conres LT, alongside Merko Statyba.
