A Lithuanian volunteer fighter has gone missing in Ukraine, the Lithuanian embassy in Kyiv confirmed to LRT.
He served with Ukraine’s International Legion and was confirmed missing in action while taking part in a combat mission.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry has not received any information confirming the person’s death. Consular staff are in contact with his family.
Two Lithuanian volunteer fighters have been killed in combat since the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
In March of this year, Tomas Valentėlis was killed during a combat mission. In February 2024, Tadas Tumas died while transporting mines to the front lines.
There is no public information on the number of Lithuanian volunteers fighting in Ukraine, but over a dozen have been injured since the beginning of the full-scale war.
