Drivers of four-wheel motor vehicles in Lithuania’s second city of Kaunas will be charged a one-off charge of two euros for entering the city’s low emission zone starting on Thursday.
The zone covers the city’s historical centre and the territory at the confluence of the Rivers Nemunas and the Neris and borders Šv. Gertrūdos, Gimnazijos, Birštono Streets and Karaliaus Mindaugo Avenue, according to the decision by the local authorities.
They told BNS earlier that the zone also included smaller streets in the Old Town.
The deadline for paying the charge is seven days from the moment of leaving the zone.
Kaunas is the first city in Lithuania to introduce such a restriction for cars.
