Stasys Museum, an art centre dedicated to the painter, graphic artist, writer, book illustrator, and author of performances Stasys Eidrigevičius opened in Lithuania’s northern city of Panevėžys on Thursday.

The museum will exhibit the artist’s extensive collection of works and international cooperation projects.

The museum will open its doors to the public on Friday.

The new museum is located on the site of a former movie theatre. Its 240 square-meter modern art storage facility currently houses approximately 1,200 artworks donated to the museum by Eidrigevičius.

On the ground floor of the museum, there will be an information centre, a café, a shop, and a ticket office. The second floor has a transformable space that can be adapted for various events, conferences, and educational activities.

The third floor is dedicated to a permanent exhibition of Eidrigevičius’ works, while the exhibition hall on the fourth floor will host temporary exhibitions.

Starting Friday, visitors will be able to see the museum’s first exhibition ICON-O-STASYS. The exhibition will be changed several times a year and will include paintings, photography, bookplates, posters, and sculptures.

Born in Panevėžys District, Eidrigevičius has held more than 100 international exhibitions and won more than 40 international awards during his lifetime.
