As part of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and NATO allies’ exercises, a curfew will be introduced in some areas of Vilnius and Kaunas on Wednesday night. Here is what you need to know.

The curfew will be in force from May 7 at 22:00 to May 8 at 5:00 in the Viršuliškės and Aukštieji Paneriai areas in Vilnius and the Palemonas area in Kaunas.

The exercise will include checks on the readiness of institutions and organisations to carry out mobilisation and host nation tasks, requisitioning of property, and the declaration of curfew.

The command units, together with the Lithuanian Police, will carry out territory control, protection of objects, and transport checks. Traffic will not be restricted for the population during the exercise.

However, actual checkpoints of the police and the command units are foreseen, where passing vehicles may be stopped, documents may be checked, and other procedures common during traffic raids performed.

In the designated curfew areas, vehicles and passers-by may be stopped and documents checked, but no other restrictions are foreseen.
