BNS 2023.10.27 14:50

On Friday, Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis officially opened the Lithuanian embassy in Singapore.

“This embassy is truly a symbol of Lithuania's new relationship with the Indo-Pacific region and its growing friendship with Singapore,” Landsbergis was quoted as saying in the Foreign Ministry’s press release.

According to him, the move fulfils Lithuania’s strategic commitment to expand ties with the Indo-Pacific region.

During the term of this government, Lithuanian embassies in Australia and South Korea, as well as a trade mission in Taiwan, were opened, Landsbergis pointed out.

Ambassador Darius Gaidys said that Singapore is a trusted intermediary for other markets in the region.

“Lithuania, despite being a maritime nation, has not had a wide reach to the Southeast Asian region. The official opening of the embassy in the presence of the Ministers of Lithuania and Singapore symbolises the development of maritime, land, and air routes for Lithuanian business, tourism, and cultural exchanges,” he said.
