The Lithuanian Navy handed over radar equipment sets to the Ukrainian Navy on Tuesday.
The equipment was sent to Ukraine in response to its Navy’s needs and request, the Lithuanian Defence Ministry said in a press release.
The new Lithuanian aid shipment “will enhance Ukraine’s maritime surveillance capabilities and improve maritime situational awareness”, it quoted Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas as saying.
“For war-torn Ukraine, this radar equipment will be important both for the protection of its territorial waters and for the security of its citizens,” he said.
The ministry said it cannot disclose the value or quantity of the equipment.
Lithuania has also formed a new military aid package for Ukraine, worth 200 million euros, for the 2024-2026 period.
In addition to military equipment and supplies, Lithuania is training Ukrainian soldiers, providing medical treatment and rehabilitation, and expert advice, as well as contributing to international funds for assistance to the country which is fighting against Russia’s military aggression.
