During Sunday's Euroleague game between Žalgiris Kaunas and Belgrade’s Crvena Zvezda, the Serbian team refused to hold a “stop war” banner.

Standing first in line, Serbian player Nikola Kalinić crossed his arms and refused to take the banner. The gesture was met with loud booing in the Kaunas’ Žalgiris arena.

Aaron White, an American player at Crvena Zvezda, said the team was instructed “to not touch the flag”. In a tweet on Sunday, he said: “I would like to make it clear I don’t support the war and I want peace in our world.”

Serbia is one of the few countries in the world that has held pro-war rallies since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.

Žalgiris Kaunas has held the "stop war" banner with Ukraine's national colours before the start of each Euroleague game.
