Lithuania on track for June to be last month of quarantine

BNS2021.06.21 12:36

Lithuanian Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys expects June to be the last month under coronavirus quarantine.

"At the moment, we are sticking to our opinion that June could be the last month under quarantine," the minister told reporters on Monday.

"The emergency situation [regime] could be left in place," he added.

The existing measures are sufficient to keep the situation under control, Dulkys said, adding that Lithuania cooperates with countries where dangerous variants of the coronavirus have been or are being identified.

"But as always, we'll be dynamic – we'll be following developments and looking at the numbers," he said, noting that the country "is in a different situation, [because] we have a vaccination process and a national testing strategy".

The coronavirus quarantine, in place in Lithuania since early November 2020, was last extended until June 30.
