Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the opposition challenger in Belarus' disputed presidential election, has tested negative for Covid-19 and is feeling well, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said on Wednesday.
Nausėda said he had spoken twice with Tikhanovskaya, who fled Belarus for Lithuania after coming under danger, adding that she "accepts responsibility as a national leader".

"As you can see, she has started making statements and is putting together a coordination committee as an instrument for moving [towards] dialogue within Belarus," Nausėda said.
"I believe she will have opportunities to [present] herself [...] as the leader of her nation," he said.
Belarus has been engulfed in unprecedented protests after incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko declared victory in the presidential election on August 9. Opposition supporters say, however, that the election result was rigged and that Tikhanovskaya secured the most votes.
