The magazine Reitingai has ranked Lithuania’s universities, with Vilnius University taking first place. This year, the publication also assessed factors such as graduates’ salaries after completing their studies.

In total, universities were evaluated against 43 different indicators, grouped into five broad categories: research, artistic or sporting activity; the value created by alumni and feedback from employers; students and studies; international competitiveness; and academic staff.

Best universities in 2026:

1. Vilnius University – 63.69 points
2. Lithuanian University of Health Sciences – 57.64 points
3. Kaunas University of Technology – 56.36 points
4. Vytautas Magnus University – 55.66 points
5. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University – 49.72 points

According to Reitingai, when assessing the average salaries 18 months after graduation, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) stood out, with an average salary of €3,500, compared with €3,177 for Vilnius University graduates.

The rankings also examined how successfully graduates’ careers had developed 36 months after graduation.

It found that alumni of smaller specialised institutions were the most successful in career terms: more than half (56.1%) of graduates from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) had highly successful careers three years after graduating.

Meanwhile, 40% of Vilnius Academy of Arts (VDA) alumni also saw strong career outcomes, and 37.8% of graduates from the Lithuanian Sports University achieved similarly positive results. The corresponding figures for other universities were lower.
