German airline Lufthansa is resuming regular service between Vilnius and Frankfurt on Wednesday, becoming the first airline to resume flights from Vilnius following a break of almost two months.
Lithuania's airport operator, Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports), says the first plane is scheduled to land in Vilnius at 15:05 with 162 passengers, and depart for Frankfurt at 18:30 with 157 passengers.
The National Public Health Centre will test everyone arriving in Vilnius for Covid-19, according to a government spokesman, Giedrius Surplys. "All of them will have to self-isolate for 14 days at home, like everyone else returnng from abroad."
Lufthansa will operate the regular flights three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Latvian airline AirBaltic had also planned to resume Vilnius–Riga flights on Wednesday but later decided to postpone them.
Lithuania's airspace and ferry operations were halted on April 4.
