The Lithuanian Armed Forces have called off a search for a suspected drone in the north-eastern Utena and Panevėžys regions on Monday after all potential crash sites were thoroughly surveyed without result.
The search followed an air alert issued last Thursday in the Utena district, which lasted for more than an hour after two suspected drones entered Lithuanian airspace. The objects subsequently disappeared from radar, leading officials to conclude they had either crashed or left the country's territory.
Similar incidents have recently been reported across the Baltic states and in Finland.
Despite the search being called off, residents are being urged to keep their distance if they spot any wreckage or suspicious objects, and warned not to touch or move anything they find.
Authorities have also asked the public not to photograph discoveries or share them on social media, and to rely only on official information sources. Any sightings should be reported immediately by calling the emergency services at 112.
