LOT to end Vilnius – London City flights and add services to Warsaw

LOT Polish Airlines will stop operating flights between Vilnius and London City Airport from March, while increasing the number of services on its Vilnius–Warsaw route, Lithuanian Airports has said.

The decision follows a joint review of passenger demand, according to Lithuanian Airports’ commercial director, Gintarė Norvilaitė-Tautėvičė.

“We decided to increase the frequency of flights between Vilnius and Warsaw and to discontinue the London City service due to declining demand,” she said in a statement.

LOT said the Vilnius–Warsaw connection remained one of the airline’s key European routes. The carrier plans to increase frequencies to 38 flights a week from the start of the 2026 summer schedule.

LOT Deputy director for network planning Wojciech Worona said services to London City would be suspended after the end of the 2025–26 winter season. Flights on the route currently operate five times a week and are scheduled to end on 27 March.

LOT has flown between Vilnius and London City since May 2019.

In 2023, Lithuanian Airports and LOT signed an investment agreement to continue the route under a risk-sharing and route-promotion scheme, after the airline won an international tender.

The arrangement was among a small number of European Commission exemptions allowing state aid for an intra-EU route considered strategically important. However, following the UK’s departure from the EU, funding for the Vilnius–London City service under this model could no longer be extended
