President Gitanas Nausėda spent part of last week working remotely and vacationing in Ireland, following an official visit to the country.
Nausėda remained in Ireland after his July 10–11 visit to Dublin, where he met with senior Irish officials and members of the Lithuanian community, according to the presidential communications office.
The president “worked remotely, like many Lithuanians in recent years, combining work with active leisure”, the office told BNS.
He returned to Lithuania on July 17 on a commercial flight, and personally paid for both his accommodation in Ireland and his return ticket, the office said.
Presidential representatives noted that while the Lithuanian Constitution does not provide for presidential vacation leave, modern communication tools allow the head of state to fulfil official duties from anywhere.
According to the office, Nausėda plans to continue combining work and rest in a similar manner in the future.
