Ukrainian forces receive Lithuanian-funded long-range weapons

Ukraine’s armed forces have received domestically made long-range weapons purchased with €10m allocated by Lithuania, Vilnius announced on Monday.

"Together with our Lithuanian partners, we are now working on the next phase – an additional 10 million euros in assistance, which will allow us to expand production and further develop our long-range capabilities," Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said in a Facebook post.

Last week, his Lithuanian counterpart, Dovilė Šakalienė, attended a Ramstein group meeting in Brussels, where she announced that Vilnius would provide an additional €30m in military assistance to Ukraine this year.

Lithuania's declared commitments to Ukraine in 2025 are worth €110m. According to Šakalienė, the amount should reach €200m this year.

The minister said €20m will be used for ammunition, another €7m for short-range electronic warfare equipment — to be purchased from Lithuanian defence companies — and the remaining €3m will go to the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine mission.

In Brussels, Šakalienė also took part in a meeting of the 30-nation "Coalition of the Willing", which aims to provide Ukraine with security guarantees in the event of a ceasefire, including the potential deployment of military forces.

The number of coalition members, the level of contributions, possible mandates, and options for responding to ceasefire violations are currently being discussed at both military and political levels.

Currently, Lithuania is committed to allocating at least 0.25% of its GDP annually to long-term support for Ukraine.
