The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry is setting up a hotline to assist businesses after the United States announced new tariffs on many countries, including the European Union.
The initiative is meant to help companies navigate changes in US import policies and minimise potential losses, the ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
“The tariffs imposed by the US will affect Lithuanian and EU businesses. With this hotline initiative, we aim to assist our country’s businesses by answering their questions, providing necessary information, and listening to their concerns,” Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said.
According to the ministry, its specialists will help businesses calculate US duty costs and advise them on tariff conditions and potential changes in importing goods from the US to Europe, as well as on the EU’s retaliatory measures.
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced a blanket 20-percent tariff on imports from the EU.
