As of Monday, improperly parked electric scooters and bicycles of sharing platforms in Vilnius will be forcibly removed to a storage site, with offenders facing a fine of up to 180 euros.
Currently, Bolt and RIDE electric scooter and bike-sharing platforms are operating in Vilnius.
The vehicles will be removed from footpaths, bike paths, and other areas where parking is prohibited under the Road Traffic Rules.
Scooters and bikes will only be removed from pavements if the stopped vehicle is obstructing the way of other drivers or pedestrians, or obstructing access to or from a parking space, garage, or yard.
These vehicles will also be removed if they are left on a pavement specially designed for the blind or obstruct the boarding of another vehicle.
According to Vilnius City Council, an administrative fine of up to 90 euros will be imposed for leaving a scooter or bicycle in the wrong place, and up to 180 euros for parking in a disabled parking space.
The fine will be issued to the company, which will have the option of reissuing it to the driver who left the vehicle in the wrong place.
Drivers or rental operators will also have to pay a removal and storage fee of 48 euros.
According to the municipality, there are currently 440 dedicated parking spaces for electric scooters and electric bicycles in Vilnius.
