The construction of a new cruise ship terminal in Lithuania’s Klaipėda is expected to begin this year near the port city’s Winter Harbor, on a plot of land owned by the port authority.
The project also includes reconstructing the berths and building new ones.
A tender procedure to select the contractor has already been launched, the Klaipėda Port Authority said on Wednesday.
“I believe the new terminal will enhance the city’s infrastructure, providing an attractive public space for both tourists and residents alike, and will also become a symbol of Klaipėda Port, visible both in the city’s urban panorama and from the Curonian Spit,” Algis Latakas, the port’s CEO, said in a press release.
The new terminal complex will also house a new office building for the port authority and a recreational boat marina.
