Here are some of the best camping sites in Lithuania, according to a listicle compiled by Travel Lithuania, the country’s tourism promotion agency.
If travelling independently, keep an eye on the different definitions: Stovyklavietės (camping sites) allow overnight stays, while you are not allowed to pitch a tent or stay overnight at Poilsiaviatės (resting places).
Have a look at the list below, which includes private as well as public and freely accessible campsites.
1. Molėtų Kempingas next to Geluono Lake is a perfect option if you like summer sports, like canoeing, water skis and boat rides.
2. The Povilas Sukauskas camping site in Žemaitija National Park offers up to 100 tent pitches. There is a sauna and a birdwatching site on the shore of Ilgio Lake. Newly installed information boards will help you get your head around the local species.
3. Sartų Lake has the longest coastline in the country. If you want to camp there, try the Bradesiai Campsite where you find wooden gazebos, outdoor fire pits, changing cabins, as well as shower and toilet facilities. There is also a car park, a pontoon, beach volleyball and football pitches, as well as hiking trails nearby.

8. The self-catering campsite Fenas Kite Spot on the shores of the Curonian Lagoon in Svencelė is perfect for lovers of water sports including kitesurfing, sailboards, paddleboards, and electric surfboards.

11. Just 90 metres from the Baltic Sea, you will find the campsite Karkelbeck No 409. Nordic walking sticks, bicycles, kayaks, horseback riding and paragliding are available for hire.
