As Michelin inspectors are scheduled to visit Lithuanian restaurants this year, the tourism promotion agency Lithuania Travel is planning to spend 1.67 million euros on the related services, the news website 15min reports.
The price includes more than the inspectors visit to Lithuania, according to Dovilė Seliukė, a representative of Lithuania Travel.
“The contract is valid for 3 years, so the amount is estimated for 3 years. It included the inspection, publicity, and other things that could occur in the next 3 years,” she told 15min.
“We would like to underline that the amount of the public procurement is not equal to the amount of the contract,” she said, adding that the specific agreements are confidential.
Last December, Economy and Innovation Minister Aušrinė Armonaitė announced that Lithuania expects to receive its first Michelin star in 2024. It was speculated at the time that a visit by Michelin inspectors could cost around 500,000 euros.
