Europe is the target of Russian aggression and it must maintain military superiority in order to be safe, Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday.
“No one can be in any doubt that, in the strategic perspective, Europe is the target of Russian aggression and it will happen when Russia’s superiority is evident in terms of military capabilities,” Tusk is quoted by Poland’s national news agency PAP.
Therefore, according to Tusk, “the absolute need of the moment in relation to the Ukrainian situation is that Europe, as a whole, must be stronger militarily than Russia and this is the only way to secure European and Polish borders”.
He said at a press conference that the forthcoming Security Committee of the Council of Ministers would address “increasing the security of our borders, especially when it comes to air protection” and “strengthening the eastern flank with the participation of our allies”.
“We have already prepared with Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski such an initiative, an appeal to take into account the needs of the European arms industry to support Ukraine as quickly as possible, not least because almost the entire Russian economy has already switched to rearmament and Europe is being left far behind,” Tusk said.
