Tickets go on sale for new Vilnius–Riga train

BNS 2023.12.18 11:35

Lithuanian Railways (LTG) started selling tickets for a new train service between Vilnius and Riga, which will start running on 27 December.

The standard fare is 24 euros, with prices varying depending on the class, LTG Link said on Monday.

Direct trains will depart from Vilnius daily in the early morning and from Riga in the late afternoon. The journey will take around 4 hours. The journey time may change only slightly due to repair works.

A modern diesel Pesa 730 ML train with 142 seats and four bicycle racks will be servicing the route between the Lithuanian and Latvian capital cities. It is accessible for people with disabilities. Hot and cold snacks and drinks will be available throughout the journey, according to LTG.

Last Friday, LTG Link received a safety certificate from the European Union Agency for Railways to operate in Latvia, allowing it to carry passengers in the neighbouring country. The route was agreed by the transport ministers and prime ministers of the three Baltic countries.

LRT has been certified according to the Journalism Trust Initiative Programme
