Lithuanians less inclined to use AI than Latvians or Estonians – survey

BNS 2023.10.26 16:15

Lithuanians are less likely to use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies than Latvians and Estonians, according to a Baltic survey commissioned by Ernst & Young Baltic (EY).

According to the survey, 19 percent of people in Lithuania use ChatGPT, Bard, Claude or other AI solutions, compared to 27 percent in Latvia and Estonia.

“At least for the time being, we can assume that Lithuanians are quite cautious about AI,” said Linas Dičpetris, head of EY Baltic.

The study shows that the most active users of AI in Lithuania are 18–29 year olds, 40 percent. Among people in their 30s and 40s, 22 percent said they used AI, while only 8 percent did among those over 60.

In Latvia, 58 percent of people aged 18–29 use AI, compared to between 11 and 38 percent in the other age groups. In Estonia, the percentages are 56 and 8–34 respectively.

A representative public opinion survey was carried out in October 2023 by the research company Norstat for EY. At least 1,000 respondents were interviewed in each country.
