Russian tanks destroyed by the Ukrainian forces will go on display in Lithuania and three other European countries.
A Russian T-72B tank destroyed by the Ukrainian army will be displayed near the Cathedral Square in central Vilnius to mark the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion, Lithuania’s Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.
Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas says “all Russian tanks must become Ukrainian trophies”.
“We must continue supporting Ukraine to achieve victory as soon as possible. Lithuania has already provided military support to Ukraine worth 409 million euros. The public is also actively contributing, both with donations for combat drones and radars,” he was quoted in a statement.
“This shows that we all have a clear understanding of the importance of this fight and what it means for the security of Europe as a whole,” Anušauskas added.
The trophy tank will be on display in a car park near the Cathedral Square in Vilnius until March 16.
“On February 24, citizens of four countries – Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia – will simultaneously see that Russian tanks can enter Europe through Ukraine only in the form of museum exhibits,” the Ukrainian Defence Ministry posted on Facebook on Wednesday.
