Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda and Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys condemned an attack in Washington targeting US President Donald Trump and members of his administration.
“I strongly condemn the attack against President Donald Trump. I am glad to hear that President Trump and the First Lady are safe and sound. Political violence is never the answer!” Nausėda posted on X on Sunday.
Budrys said there must be zero tolerance for political violence.
The incident occurred on Saturday at the Washington Hilton hotel during the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. An armed man attempted to force his way into the event while firing shots; a security guard was wounded during the confrontation.
Trump, along with the First Lady and administration members, was unharmed and safely evacuated.
