On Friday, Lithuanian Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Agnė Vaiciukevičiūtė met with representatives of Meta, the owner of Facebook. At the meeting, she voiced Lithuania’s concern that the social network is deleting pro-Ukraine posts.

“Meta representatives have taken the issue very seriously. They will come to Lithuania in January to analyse the issue and look for solutions,” Vaiciukevičiūtė said, adding that the exact date of the meeting is not yet known.

“We see the theoretical possibility of regulation, but we think we will find a consensus. My point was that the state has to react,” the deputy minister added.

Debunk.org, a disinformation analysis centre, is collecting examples of Meta’s platforms blocking messages about Russia’s war in Ukraine.

According to Vaiciukevičiūtė, Meta will analyse the cases registered by both the government and Debunk.org before visiting Lithuania.
