A Bayraktar drone crowdfunded by people in Lithuania has already been delivered to Ukraine, Lithuanian Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas said on Friday.
“The Ukrainians have announced that they have received the Bayraktar Hawk from us,” Anušauskas said in a Facebook post on Friday.
Crowdfunded during a campaign by Laisvės TV and Andrius Tapinas, the drone was named Vanagas (Hawk).
Baykar, a Turkish UAV manufacturer, decided to donate the drone after Lithuanians raised 5.9 million euros for its purchase.
The money was then used to equip the drone with weapons, while the rest of the funds were earmarked for humanitarian aid.
