As of Tuesday, medical facemasks and respirators have become mandatory in Lithuania’s schools, except for primary students and kindergartners.

According to the government's decision taken on Monday, all children aged six and above will have to wear medical facemasks or respirators inside education establishments.

Exceptions also apply to children who cannot wear the masks for medical reasons. They will be recommended or wear a protective face shield instead.

Facemasks for primary school children may become mandatory from December 1. However, the government is yet to make a decision.
