On Tuesday, talks about a new unmarked police car began spreading on Lithuanian social media, when the website Reidas Official (Raid Official) shared a photo of a policeman standing next to a powerful black BMW G30 530D.
In July, Chief of the Road Police Vytautas Grašys said the service was preparing to buy ten new unmarked patrol cars.
Renatas Siaurusaitis, the chief specialist at the Lithuanian Road Police, confirmed to LRT.lt that the BMW car in question indeed belonged to the police.
According to Siaurusaitis, the car is currently being equipped with gadgets needed for patrolling. The BMW will be officially unveiled to the public once it is fully ready for service.
This will not be the only car of such model added to the Lithuanian police’s car stock, Siaurusaitis said.
