Coronavirus: Lithuania's daily infection count jumps to 102

Lithuania has registered 102 new coronavirus infections and one death from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Thursday morning.

Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate has risen to 24.4 cases per 100,000 people, and the daily share of positive tests has edged up to 0.9 percent.

There were 5,778 molecular (PCR) tests for Covid-19 and 2,824 antigen tests performed in the country on Wednesday.

Overall, 279,488 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 4,404 people have died from Covid-19 in the country so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 8,980.

On Wednesday, 4,250 people were vaccinated with the first vaccine shot, while 4,444 got their second jab.

In all, 1.29 million people in Lithuania, or 46.1 percent of the population, have been vaccinated at least once, while 1.09 million have had two vaccine shots.
