Wizz Air to suspend Vilnius-Turku route in September

Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air is to scrap its flights between Vilnius and the Finnish city of Turku from September 17, just nine months after the route launched.

The carrier said it continually reviews route performance to match passenger demand and that the move forms part of a broader schedule optimisation.

Passengers who booked directly through Wizz Air's website or app have already been contacted by email and offered alternatives, including rebooking on other routes or a full refund to their original payment method or as Wizz Air credit.

Until the route closes, flights will operate three times a week: on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Lithuanian Airports, which manages the country's main aviation hubs, declined to comment.

Wizz Air remains one of the busiest carriers at Vilnius Airport, operating routes to destinations across Europe and the Middle East. These include Tirana, Prague, Larnaca, Reykjavik, Tel Aviv and Budapest, as well as multiple cities in Italy, France, Poland, Spain and England.
