The Lithuanian government decided on Wednesday to nominate career diplomat Audra Plepytė for ambassador to the United States, and propose Ramūnas Misiulis for ambassador to Germany.
If appointed by the president, Plepytė will take office on May 18, while Misiulis will assume his position on May 10.
The cabinet also approved Andrius Namavičius for ambassador to the Council of Europe, and Rytis Paulauskas, for ambassador to the United Nations.
Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis told the cabinet that all four candidates had been approved by the host countries.

The positions of Lithuanian ambassadors to the United States and Germany have been vacant since late summer and October 2020, respectively.
The search for new ambassadors took longer than usual because the presidential office and the Foreign Ministry could not agree on candidates.
Lithuanian ambassadors are nominated by the government and appointed by the president, subject to approval from the parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs.
