Lithuania is commemorating Statehood Day on July 6, also marking the 1253 coronation of the nation's only king, Mindaugas.
In Vilnius today, a ceremony attended by the President Dalia Grybauskaitė saw the raising of Lithuanian current, and historic flags. Above the heads of visitors, officials and the military, a formation of NATO jets staged a fly-by.
Later today at 21:00, Lithuanians across the country and abroad will sing the national anthem.
