Minimum wage in Lithuania to rise to €1,245 before tax

Lithuania’s government on Wednesday approved an 8 percent increase in the monthly minimum wage for next year to 1,245 euros before tax, or 92 euros higher than the current level.

The move is expected to affect about 145,000 employees, or around 10 percent of the workforce.

The minimum hourly rate will also rise by 8 percent (56 cents) to 7.61 euros starting next year.

According to government estimates, net earnings for minimum-wage workers should increase by 56 euros, reaching at least 902 euros.

This year, the minimum wage was increased by 11 percent (115 euros) to 1,153 euros before tax.
