Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys said on Thursday he will discuss in Brussels reports that Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó shared information with Russia.
"We are working with our permanent representation to ensure this matter is raised both procedurally and politically at the EU Council. I cannot afford to sit at a table and discuss issues vital to Lithuania's interests with people who then pick up the phone and report everything to our adversaries," Budrys told Žinių Radijas.
According to Budrys, if this were a NATO matter, specific procedures would be in place to assess whether information had been compromised.
"Ultimately, there is the loss of the right to work with sensitive data; a state can lose access to certain information. We do not have such clear rules in the European Union, but Lithuania will certainly not let this matter rest," the minister said.
