Lockheed Martin exploring investment opportunities in Lithuania – minister

US defence contractor Lockheed Martin is exploring potential investment opportunities in Lithuania after recently establishing a local subsidiary, Economy Minister Edvinas Grikšas said Thursday.

Grikšas said discussions with company representatives are still at an early stage, with specific plans yet to be defined.

“Lithuania is of interest to Lockheed Martin for cooperation and perhaps potential investment, but these are details we have not yet had time to discuss,” he told reporters.

The minister said the company is currently seeking to better understand Lithuania’s business and innovation environment. He introduced its representatives to officials from the Economy Ministry, Innovation Agency Lithuania and Invest Lithuania.

Grikšas met Lockheed Martin representatives during a meeting of the American-Lithuanian Business Council and said further talks are expected soon.

“Lockheed Martin has opened an office, and we are now in contact with them regarding their future prospects,” he said. “I believe we will certainly organise a meeting in the near future.”

Lithuania hopes that investment by major defence companies could lead to joint projects involving local businesses, the minister added.

According to data from the Centre of Registers, the Lithuanian branch of Lockheed Martin Global was registered last week, with Christine Lee Farmerie appointed as its head.

Invest Lithuania said it was not aware of concrete investment plans but confirmed that discussions with the company have been ongoing. The agency noted that having a local presence allows Lockheed Martin to cooperate directly with institutions such as the Ministry of National Defence and the Defence Materiel Agency, which is important for planning future acquisitions.

Lockheed Martin reported revenue of $20.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, up 9% compared with a year earlier.
