Pedestrian traffic will be suspended at the Panemunė–Sovetsk border crossing on the Lithuanian–Russian frontier from 10:00 to 14:00 on Monday, September 29, due to electrical maintenance on the Russian side, Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT) said on Friday.
The checkpoint will operate normally for the remainder of the day, the VSAT added.
Panemunė is one of two crossings on the Lithuanian–Russian border and handles only pedestrian traffic, with around 150 people crossing daily via the Queen Louise Bridge, which spans the Nemunas River.
The other border crossing, at Kybartai, accommodates both vehicles and pedestrians.
The VSAT advised travellers to take the temporary restrictions into account when planning to cross the border.
Electrical maintenance work is carried out on the Russian side every September and October.
