On Tuesday, SpaceX launched two satellites made by Lithuanian company Kongsberg NanoAvionics into space as part of the Transporter 12 mission.
NanoAvionics said on Wednesday that the satellites, made for Germany’s Constellr and France’s Absolut Sensing, were launched from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
The NanoAvionics mission operations centre in Vilnius later established contact with the two satellites.
“The Falcon 9 rocket has launched the forerunner of a satellite constellation to monitor localised methane gas emissions and the first satellite of constellation to measure the Earth’s surface temperature, both of which will bring new capabilities to Europe's Copernicus programme,” the company said.
NanoAvionics has already produced more than 40 satellites that have been launched into orbit.
NanoAvionics, which is 79.62 percent owned by Norway’s Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, employs nearly 300 people in its offices in Lithuania, the UK, and the US.
