The Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP) won the Seimas elections on Sunday and will have the largest group in the next parliament, well ahead of its nearest rivals.
Lithuanian voters were electing 63 members of the Seimas in single-mandate constituencies on Sunday. Polling stations opened at 07:00 and closed at 20:00.
In total, just over 2 million people are on the electoral rolls. According to the Central Electoral Commission (VRK), the turnout stands at 41.31 percent in the second round (30.52 percent of voters cast their ballot on polling, while another 10.8 percent voted in advance), significantly lower than in the first round of voting (52 percent).
The second round of the elections were held for 63 seats in the Seimas. In eight single-member constituencies out of 71, winners were picked in the first round: Senamiestis-Žvėrynas, Antakalnis, Kelmė-Šilalė, Kėdainiai, Žiemgala West, Šalčininkai-Vilnius, Nemenčinė and Jonava.

Candidates from 11 parties were competing in the second round, two in each constituency:
- Social Democratic Party (LSDP): 37
- Homelend Union (TS-LKD): 33
- Dawn of the Nemunas: 13
- Democratic Union “For Lithuania”: 10

- National Rally: 1
A total of 78 out of 141 Members of the Seimas were elected in the first round.
On Sunday, the main election day, a ban on campaigning came into force seven hours before the voting started.
The Electoral Code stipulates that the candidate with the highest number of votes in a single-mandate constituency, regardless of the number of voters who took part in the election, is deemed elected in the run-off. If both candidates have received the same number of votes, the candidate who received the higher number of votes in the first round of voting wins the seat.
