Lithuania provides €1m to rebuild Russia-struck children’s hospital in Kyiv

The Lithuanian government on Wednesday allocated 1 million euros to Ukraine to help rebuild a children’s hospital in Kyiv destroyed by this week’s Russian missile strike.

“We have received a request for assistance to rebuild the hospital that was shelled in Ukraine, and we propose allocating 1 million euros to help the Ukrainian residents affected by the Russian Federation’s military aggression,” Finance Minister Gintarė Skaistė told the cabinet.

“We want to help Ukraine rebuild its destroyed infrastructure as quickly as possible. We invite other countries to join us,” she added.

The children’s hospital in Kyiv was among the targets hit in the barrage of missiles fired by Russian forces at cities across Ukraine on Monday.

“We all saw what happened two days ago when Mordor’s missiles destroyed many buildings, including the children’s hospital. It is clear that this is a very important infrastructure for the Ukrainian public and the state,” Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said during the cabinet meeting.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Wednesday that the death toll from the Russian attacks on July 8 had risen to 43, and more than 100 people were injured.
