The Latvian government continues to send to Ukraine cars seized from drunk drivers. So far, a total of 66 vehicles have been handed over to Kyiv, according to the Delfi news website.
Once seized, the cars become state property, meaning they can be donated to Ukraine.
"The state sells confiscated cars at auctions. Instead, we decided that we could help our national hero Reinis Poznaks, who has already delivered a thousand cars to the front in Ukraine," Latvian Finance Minister Arvils Åseradens said earlier.
According to Latvia’s laws, a car can be confiscated if the driver is heavily intoxicated, with the concentration of alcohol exceeding 1.5 mmol/L.
