Lithuania is buying 371 trucks for its Armed Forces for around 216 million euros, the Defence Ministry said on Monday.
The Defence Materiel Agency has signed a contract with Veho Lietuva to purchase 230 AROCS special-purpose trucks with spare parts and 141 ZETROS trucks equipped with cranes.
The trucks are to be delivered between 2023 and 2030.
“Modern military equipment allows our troops to be better prepared for logistic operations and to ensure the necessary mobility,” Defence Minister Arvydas Anušauskas was quoted as saying in a press release.
“We know from the lessons of the war in Ukraine how important it is to have high-quality equipment capable of transporting the necessary equipment and ammunition to any point,” he added.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces will use the AROCS trucks, manufactured by German’s Daimler AG, for logistics operations. The military currently operates 25 such trucks that were purchased in 2021.
The trucks can transport up to 17 tons of cargo, such as ammunition for PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzers or other artillery systems, as well as containers, vehicles, equipment, and other military supplies, according to the ministry.
The 10-ton capacity ZETROS trucks will also be used for military logistical operations. Eight ZETROS trucks in other modifications are already in service. The new trucks will be able to load, unload, and transport ammunition for multiple launch rocket systems and other military equipment.
As part of the ongoing equipping of its Armed Forces, Lithuania also expects delivery of 34 UNIMOG U5000 tactical five-ton trucks in July and around 120 military-use unarmoured G-class SUVs by the end of this year.
