Lithuanian parliament refuses to set up commission over Belarus potash transit

The Lithuanian parliament on Thursday rejected a proposal to set up an ad hoc inquiry commission over the country's s failure to halt Belarusian potash fertiliser shipments despite US sanctions.

The draft resolution did not pass the second reading in the parliament, Seimas, with 61 votes in favour, 54 against and 13 abstentions.

Fifty-one opposition MPs had demanded that such a commission be established to look into the circumstances around Belaruskali's continuing exports via Lithuania.
