Lithuanian Health Ministry is preparing to award three municipalities that will have at least 90 percent of their senior residents vaccinated against Covid-19 by December 1, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys confirmed on Wednesday.
According to Dulkys, municipalities first to vaccinate 90 percent of residents aged 75 and over will receive financial prizes to be allocated to workers who had contributed to the effort.
“Municipalities that will first achieve these goals will receive financial prizes so that they can pay 30 percent bonuses to certain workers,” the health minister said.
If municipalities vaccinated 98 percent of their senior residents by December 1, the ministry will award funds to pay 50-percent bonuses to the workers.
Neringa municipality in Western Lithuania has already passed the 90 percent mark.. Dulkys said that the municipality will be the first one to receive the award and will serve as an example to other municipalities.
