Lithuania has confirmed 503 new coronavirus infections and two deaths from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, the country's statistics office said on Wednesday morning.
This is the biggest daily infection count since May 28 when 559 new cases and 12 deaths were recorded.
Lithuania's 14-day coronavirus infection rate currently stands at 146.3 cases per 100,000 people, and the daily share of positive tests is 3 percent, according to the latest statistics.
There were 6,722 molecular (PCR) tests and 8,804 antigen tests performed on Tuesday.
Overall, 284,191 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Lithuania since the start of the pandemic, and the number of active cases has risen to 3,538.
A total of 4,422 people have died from Covid-19 in Lithuania so far. The overall number of deaths directly or indirectly related to the coronavirus has reached 9,048.
Over 12,000 people were vaccinated on Tuesday: 8,822 got their first vaccine shot and 3,802 were given the second jab.
In all, 1.43 million people in Lithuania have been vaccinated at least once, or 51.2 percent of the population, and 1.26 million have had two vaccine shots.
At the moment, 200 Covid-19 patients are being treated in Lithuania's hospitals, 23 of them in intensive care. The government has said it will introduce tougher restrictions once the number of hospitalisations start approaching 300.
