Lonely Planet, a leading travel publication, has named Vilnius as one of the best cities in the world for expats.

According to the top 10 list published on November 4, Vilnius stood out for its opportunities for “digital nomads”.

“Lithuania boasts some of the world’s fastest wifi and its coffee-worshipping capital is dotted with venues to lay down your laptop,” according to Lonely Planet.

“Vilnius is an outward-looking city of art collectives, tech start-ups and bookish young professionals,” it added.

Other cities to make the top 10 are Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Chengdu in China, Singapore, Reykjavík in Iceland, Salzburg in Austria, Mexico City in Mexico, Montréal in Canada, Auckland in New Zealand, and Portland in the United States.

The rankings were compiled using the 2019 Global Global Expat Index report, according to Lonely Planet.

“All are welcoming metropolises that offer sweet lifestyles and epic travel opportunities,” it added.
